Hi, my name is Alex and I am a bass guitar player from Lawrenceville GA. I have been a student of music for 25 years. My musical influences include Victor Wooten, Flea, Les Claypool, Mononeon, and I also enjoy playing 6 string guitar, drums, and harmonica. My teaching style can best be described as observant and relaxed. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I don’t focus solely on the right notes because music is so much more than 12 notes. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to be a better listener, how to use space, using rhythm to express yourself, and most importantly how to be funky! I like to tell my students to play what you feel and your audience will share that feeling. My favorite thing about teaching is sharing my knowledge with the world but also learning from all my students. My favorite performance recently was seeing Mononeon and Primus play together. My students love that I have an awesome studio to teach in and have some cool bass guitars to share with as well as some excellent knowledge in recording practices and equipment. I primarily teach bass guitar, but I can also teach 6 string guitar and audio engineering. My approach as a teacher is to have fun first. We play music, we don’t work it.
