About Me

Hi, my name is Marie and I am a bilingual music educator and flutist from Texas. I have been a student of music for 12 years. My musical influences include Queen, Ariana Grande, Jasmine Choo, and many more, and I also enjoy exploring classical and contemporary pop music. My teaching style can best be described as encouraging, patient, and student-centered. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe every student learns differently, and it’s my job to meet them where they are and help them grow through music they love. In my lessons, you can expect to learn solid technique, music theory fundamentals, and how to express yourself musically with confidence. I like to tell my students that mistakes are just stepping stones to improvement, and progress is more important than perfection. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing my students build self-confidence as they develop their own unique musical voice. My favorite performance was a chamber recital where I performed a flute duet, Maya by Ian Clarke—it was an incredible experience sharing music in a collaborative setting. My students love that I always try to make lessons fun, and that I find creative ways to explain tricky concepts. I primarily teach flute, but I can also teach beginner piano and guitar. My approach as a teacher is to create a positive, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and celebrating their progress. Thanks for taking a look at my profile.
