Hi, my name is Matthew and I am a pianist, vocalist, and conductor from Atlanta, Ga. I have been a student of music since I was 10. My musical influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, Jacob Collier, Barbra Streisand, and Hiromi Uehara to name a few.. My teaching style is often socratic and inquisitive, encouraging exploration and building the toolset.. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I pass along what the tips and tricks I've learned along my way. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to maintain and strengthen your musical edge through focused and kind methods.. I like to tell my students to do it their way and that it's okay not to get it right every time. My favorite thing about teaching is knowing you're positively building and enriching someone's musical life, like many have done for me. My favorite performance was seeing Patti LaBelle live in Cincinnati and Sonoma. My students love that I practice what I preach, only asking of you what I would do or have done myself.
