Aiden(b. 2003) is a trombonist, composer and educator based in Boston MA. In his four years living in Boston pursuing his degree at the New England Conservatory (NEC), he’s already made a stamp on the local scene with his unique approach to improvisation and wide array of ings an original approach to his instrument and composition through a wide array of influences ranging from free improvisation to early jazz to American folk and roots music. Fascinated by music history,is constantly acquiring new musical interests and pushing the bounds of his artistry. In his time at NEC,has studied a wide variety of musical styles both in and out of the Jazz discipline and in addition to the wide array of small ensembles,has participated in the school’s Klezmer Ensemble, played in the pit for multiple operas, played in the wind ensemble and the early jazz ensemble, along with many others. All of these experiences have furthered his artistry and array of influences. His large ensemble compositions have been played. by the NEC Jazz Orchestra and the NEC Youth Jazz Orchestra, as well as in multiple local big bands.has cultivated his passion for large ensemble playing both within the NEC community in the NEC Jazz Orchestra and the Jazz Composer’s Workshop Orchestra (founded by Bob Brookmeyer), along with many local projects in and around the Boston area by similarly minded young composers. In his capacity as a sideman,has appeared with/recorded with projects led by Jason Moran, Anna Webber, Nicole Mitchell, Frank Carlberg, Dave Holland, Ingrid Jensen, Maria Schneider, Nasheet Waits, Mary Halverson, Aoife O’Donavan, Cecil McBee, John Hollenbeck, and many others. Born and raised in Westchester, New York,was a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center High School Jazz Academy, and studied at Manhattan School of Music’s pre-college division. In his time at these institutions, along with his time at NEC,has caught the attention and studied with such prolific musicians as Wycliffe Gordon, Michael Dease, Chris Crenshaw, and Kalia Vandever, Marshall Gilkes, Elliot Mason, Jason Palmer, Jason Moran, Jerry Bergonzi, Anna Webber, and many others. All of these pivotal figures have furthered ’s keen interest in learning and growing his craft both on and off of the instrument. is also an extremely passionate educator and has gotten to teach in a wide array of situations. In addition to a robust private studio, he has been on the faculty of the Interplay Jazz Festival in Lebanon, NH, for three years, working with Jazzmeia Horn, James Francies, Matt Wilson, and other musical luminaries to build and expand continued music education for adults. In his time at NEC, he graduated with a Teaching Artistry Concentration, through which he has been awarded a teaching fellowship and musical storytelling fellowship. These fellowships have sentto schools and community centers around the Boston area, working with little children and middle to high school level classrooms and individual students. The teaching fellowship at NEC has also sentto work with students at the Ellis Marsalis Center for Learning in New Orleans, and allowed him to contribute to the International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ) in Klagenfurt, Austria in 2025.has also worked for the last year in the Boston Hope Project, a non-profit founded to provide music lessons to doctors working on the front lines of the COVID-19 lieves that teaching is a crucial part of the musical culture and an integral part of his artistic and musical identity. This musical identity, permeating through all of his artistic endeavors, strives for music both grounded in tradition and looking forward to paths not yet discovered.
