Hi! I’m Kenneth, a musician and creative with over 15 years of guitar experience, teaching beginner through intermediate students. I specialize in rhythm guitar and also offer lessons in songwriting and performing. My journey has been shaped via playing in bands, live shows, and exploring diverse genres including rock, folk, and indie. I believe music should spark joy, not frustration. Studies show about 90% of beginners give up guitar within their first year, so I center my approach on keeping learning fun, creative, and motivating. My lessons focus on practical skills and developing a personal style rather than rigid theory-starting with fundamentals, rhythm, and even composition. I’ve won talent awards like judges' choice in Tulsa’s Battle of the Bands, and played everything from solo gigs to major events and weddings. My goal is to help each student stay inspired, build confidence, and reach their musical goals, wherever they start on their journey. Beginner -
A compassionate, free flow, encouraging atmosphere. An honest an intuitive teacher with a mind for composition and a focus on the fundamentals and the ability to breakdown complex ideas. We will learn how to interact with the instrument and how that instrument manipulates sound for our desired goals. Staying passionate about guitar requires more than just technique. We will identify your personal goals and establish a solid foundation to achieve them. I will teach you how to maintain your guitar including: tuning, restringing, and cleaning. We will discuss equipment and identify gear such as picks, capos, and strings that suit your long term goals and immediate needs. You will learn how to hold your guitar, navigate your fret board, strumming styles, and palm muting, all with a focus on finger, wrist, and hand placement. I will teach you basic, bar, and power chords as well as basic scales and picking techniques such as alternate picking. You will learn how to read and write tabs. I will not teach you to read standard notation. We will discuss musical perspective and how to overcome inevitable plateaus in your musical journey.
