Hi, my name is Gerald, and I am 24 years old, originally from Macon, GA but a happy resident of Milledgeville for over 5 years now. I have been a student of music for over 15 years ever since my dad handed me my first guitar and have loved every minute of it! My musical influences include classic Rock legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Van Halen, and I also enjoy heavier Metal bands like Pantera, Death, and Mayhem. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I am song-oriented, focusing on teaching through actual songs whenever possible versus monotonous exercises so as to keep things as exciting as possible. In my lessons, you can expect to learn everything from basic chords and scales to advanced techniques like tremolo picking, sweeps, and tapping. I like to tell my students the beauty of music lies in the ability to express yourself in a unique way and project your own musings upon the instrument. I focus heavily on teaching improvisation and the importance of being able to 'play around' with the songs we are learning to make them your own. I have been in several local bands over the years, including Atlanta-based heavy metal band Fatal Attraction during their debut tour around the southeast US.
