2 Years
Hi! My name is June, and I am primarily a vocalist and composer. I got my musical start in high school, competing in district, region, and state level choirs PMEA. I went on to attend Carnegie Mellon University as a Classical Voice Performance and Chemistry Major, graduating in 2024. As my senior project, I cowrote a musical. I composed and orchestrated all the music while my cowriter wrote the script. The musical went on to win an award and was performed at CMU, 54 Below in NY, and Marymount Manhattan College. My background spans choir, opera, jazz, and musical theater. I love music theory and the study of harmony, but I get that's not everyones cup of tea. While I have no problem getting in the technical music theory weeds, I try to introduce and teach musical concepts in a digestible way. The better the foundation of musical understanding, the greater the impact of better technique. And with a combination of musical understanding and technical skill, you can do just about anything.
June S. has over 2 years of music experience in the Pittsburgh area.
June S. is proficient in and teaches Vocal Lessons, Song Writing Lessons .Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
I come from an intense music theory background and I believe a good ear is just as if not more important than a good voice. That being said, I know music theory can often be intimidating or overwhelming. In my teaching, I try to bridge the gap between vocal technique, ear training, harmony, and musicianship, in a way that can be palatable to any level musician.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Composition is ultimately about taking the music in your head and bringing it to life. In order to do that, we as musicians and composers have to build the language and understanding to be able to communicate that music out of our heads and into the paper, piano, microphone, or whatever our chosen medium might be. I try to help you develop these skills by strengthening your understanding of harmony, ear training, and applying these skills in a compositional context.
