Andrew Doug is a skilled trombonist and dedicated music educator with years of experience teaching brass students of all ages and skill levels. Whether your child is just starting out on trombone or looking to refine their sound for auditions or performance, Doug brings both expertise and encouragement to every lesson. Doug holds a Bachelor of Music in Orchestral Instrument Performance from Georgia State University and offers a well-rounded background in classical, jazz, and contemporary styles. He’s taught private lessons for several years, worked with middle and high school band programs, led brass sections at regional music camps, and most recently served as Choir Director at Crisp County Middle School. As a performer, Doug has played with groups such as the Atlanta Trombone Ensemble, Atlanta Freedom Bands, and the Atlanta Swing Orchestra. He’s been recognized in national competitions, including the Southeast Trombone Symposium and events held by the International Trombone Association. He also brings his creativity into lessons as an arranger, reworking music by composers like John Mackey and Eric Whitacre for large brass ensembles. Doug studied with respected professionals including Dr. William Mann and Bradley Peppers, and has participated in masterclasses led by top musicians from major orchestras such as the Atlanta Symphony, New York Philharmonic, and Los Angeles Philharmonic. Above all, Doug’s teaching philosophy centers on helping each student find joy in music—whether that means pursuing it seriously or simply making it a fun and fulfilling part of their life. He is also an advocate for students with disabilities in the performing arts and works to make lessons accessible, welcoming, and meaningful for every learner.
