My name is Nathan! I’ve been studying music for 15+ years, and have been teaching for almost 2! My music taste includes a little bit of everything! Mostly rock of all kinds, classical, and contemporary, all with Jazz and Blues undertones. I’ve been playing both drums and piano for 15 plus years, and bass guitar for almost 10. My experience includes each and every possible band class and extra curricular available from middle school to college ie. marching band, jazz band, concert band etc. I have also been producing music and working with small bands and some of my own for 10 plus years! I’ve also just recently been taken on at my local church as a music director! My approach to teaching starts with getting a good feel for where you are, and where you want to be. Our first time meeting I’ll get a consensus of your level of knowledge in certain areas for each instrument ie. theory, technique, rudiments etc. We’ll end the session with discussing what your goal is, and what steps we can take to get you there. I’ll more than likely use a custom curriculum made personally for you, unless instructed or asked otherwise! I’m open to anything! Our second time meeting I’ll have resources necessary to take the next step, which will most likely consist of sheets of music that will spell out warm ups, practicing techniques, and other resources to help with general knowledge. Every now and again you will be given a ‘benchmark’ piece that will put all the things you’ve been practicing together for a sort of show of progress! This might look like custom pieces or pieces of music already written that will suit your level. I can host at my own house, at my local church, or visit you at your home! I also now offer online lessons!
