Guitar Lessons

It's my firm belief that music lessons should always be engaging and informative but most of all fun. I strive to center each lesson around that idea. Learning to play an instrument can seem daunting at first, but I intend to show my students anyone can pick up the guitar and have fun no matter the skill level.
Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
Beginner students will start off learning their 5 basic chords as well as the notes on all 6 strings and the pattern in which they are sequenced. Once the student has a grasp of the 5 basic chords we will put together chord progressions which will take us into learning timing. We will also be learning a song of the students' choice. Intermediate students will begin learning more advanced chords such as bar chords. They will also learn the pentatonic scale shapes and modal scale shapes. Students at this stage will spend a lot of time learning to navigate the fretboard. They will also be exposed to some theory concepts and learn why chords and scales sound they way the do. Advanced students will learn how the scale shapes connect throughout the entire fretboard and how to take advantage of theory in order to create sounds that have specific emotions, this will eventually lead us to breaking out of the scale boxes and into learning some soloing concepts. There is so much more students will learn than what I've described here, this is just a basic framework. Lessons will center around what the student finds most engaging.
