What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
In guitar lessons with me, we will focus on the following key areas: 1. Finding comfort and confidence in approaching the instrument by focusing on basic technique. 2. Before jumping into scales and music theory topics, we will start with finding the music/genre that the student is excited about and build a lexicon of approaches pertaining to that style. 3. I will always meet the student where they are currently, whether a beginner or a more intermediate player. Lessons will consist of a mixture of ear training, exercises, and really digging into learning songs. 4. At the end of the day, I prefer to focus on making music and having the students find their excitement in playing a song.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
In song writing lessons with me, we will focus on the following key areas: 1. The building blocks of song structure (verse, chorus, bridge) 2. Finding some simple chord progressions and their relation to each other. 3. Writing exercises that will help with finding inspiration and putting those ideas to music. 4. Other exercises include improvisation, deep listening, ear training, and writing prompts.
