Hi, my name is Ward, and I am a violinist and music instructor in Oklahoma City. I have been a student of music for 11 years. My musical influences include Ray Chen, Augustin Hadelich, and Fritz Kreisler, and I also enjoy sharing the joy of music through performance and teaching. My teaching style can best be described as patient, encouraging, and focused on helping each beginner find their own sound. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that music should be both expressive and enjoyable — technique is important, but emotion is what brings the notes to life. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to play with good tone, accurate intonation, and musical confidence. I like to tell my students that progress takes time, but every small improvement matters. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing students gain confidence and start to express themselves freely through their instrument. My favorite performances are with Oklahoma Chamber Symphony, where I truly felt the power of playing as one. My students love that I create a comfortable, motivating environment and help them grow at their own pace. I primarily teach violin, but I can also teach music reading and basic music theory.
