He began playing the cello at the age of 11, singing at age 12 and continued his education by attending University of North Texas to study vocal performance and choral music. His musical influences include composers such as Debussy, Ravel, Bach, and Barber. Jacob's favorite thing about music is communication and expression and his favorite thing about teaching music is opening the students mind to creativity. One of his favorite teaching experiences was conducting his collegiate music education choir.
