Mitchell began playing Drums at the age of 8 Over the years, he developed his skills further by Joining his School Band from 7th to 12th grade He gained performance experience in the Charlotte, New Orleans Las Vegas and Myrtle Beach areas by playing at such venues as Bally's' MGM grand, N.O. Arena and with acts such as Purple Reign, Blu7 and Christopher Cortez. Though Mitchell can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are Jazz, Funk and Rock which had great influence on his style of playing. Mitchell loves music because how it makes him feel happy and loves teaching music because how his students look so happy when they learn to play.
