Hello, my name is Chris and I was probably playing guitar when you were born. I also have experience with other instruments, which has augmented my playing and musical awareness. I also love teaching. I have been a professional instructional designer, for over 15 years, so I understand there are multiple ways to learn and incorporate new ideas and material in the learning journey. I have been in bands and I have written original music, playing in front of many people on many stages. My influences range across decades and genres, but singer-songwriters, and those who move the needle with sound and words are the ones I'm drawn to the most. I love the use of guitar as a percussive instrument, like in some pop, funk and dance music. I can funk with the best of them! Or jazz out with some tricky chords-whatever I'm feeling at the time. That's really what I want the student to seek and find-what speaks most to them and how to explore that. It definitely does help to know a little bit, and to be able to do a little bit, but learning and increasing proficiency can and should be synonymous with fun and excitement! That would be my goal as your teacher. Learning and growing in skill and ability shouldn't feel like pressure, and there are definitely short cuts to getting wherever you want to go. I can help there. From the classical composers to the three chord garage rockers, there is a place for it all. In fact, it all fits together. That's my music theory and I'd love the opportunity to share more with you as your guitar/music instructor. Let's go!
