My name is Ian and I love music. My father introduced me to the magic of playing guitar at the age of 8 and I haven't put it down since. At the age of 12 my father took me to a band practice and his friend showed me the drums, which I also have not put down since. I taught preschool for 10 years in Seattle and just started teaching guitar on the side last year to help a friend with their playing ability. I feel that he and I are learning new things every lesson whether it's a new minor scale, or a new note I never noticed higher on the fret board. I have been playing in bands around the Pacific northwest for about 20 years now. I've toured Europe, Japan, the west coast of America and played shows in Mexico and Canada with numerous projects. For a majority of these tours I played drums and learned different drumming techniques along the way, I learned what a paradidle was in Japan from the drummer on that tour, but I've also been the guitarist on some of these tours in bands I was never a part of, in Serbia I played guitar for a band from italy who had just kicked their guitarist out. My theory for playing is to have fun and be yourself, never try to impress anyone but yourself, and most importantly always be open to learning something new whether it be a new genre of music or a new chord progression you could never figure out.
