Andrew G.

Andrew is from Sarasota FL and fell in love with music at the age of 12. His music education started in the VPA (visual performing arts) program at Booker Middle School through the guitar class that was offered. From there he was accepted into the VPA guitar program at Booker High School under the guidance of Thomas Koch. Thomas comes from a high pedigree of classical guitarists through the Paris Conservatory in France. Andrew learned his foundational understanding of the guitar and pedagogical approach for the 4 years he studied with Thomas both at school and privately. Andrew won many awards and accolades for guitar performance in his teenage years. He was awarded a scholarship for guitar at Stetson University in Deland FL. Since that time he has made music his career mostly through live performance and teaching. Music for him is a lifelong journey of learning and discovery. Andrew reveres the higher function of music as a spiritual endeavor and therapeutic device. His style of teaching rests on a foundation of formal music theory and guitar pedagogy steeped in decades of live performance across many genres with various performers. Andrew enjoys seeing his students finding the freedom of expression from learning the language of music.
