Every student should expect to learn. I require all of my students to practice and to show progress but I believe I am very reasonable with what is due each week. Often times I teach out of a set of books. Beginner students will strictly have a lesson book, theory book, performance book, and possibly another book. Intermediate students will have a theory book, a classical music book, and then a book or piece of their choosing. Advanced students will have a theory book, and depending on their interest, another book. Each student is required to practice (which includes everyhting under the domain of piano) each week. I beleive that a student should be able to understand all aspects of paino and will be taught these aspects. Each student will have a reward system that will enhance their understanding of music and piano as well. Students should expect to learn, but to also think of lessons as fun. I want to have a trusting teacher to student relationship and will treat lessons as such. I want my students to enjoy lessons and not be told to do something "because I said so" but instead teach them why that certain thing is needed to be understood.
