Chelsea S.

Chelsea is a flute player and an instrumental music education major from the University of New Mexico. Chelsea has been playing the flute since she was 11 years old, participating in many honor ensembles in middle school and high school. She later joined her high school's marching band. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she almost dropped out of school and decided not to so that she could experience another marching season. After being a drum major for her high school's marching band, she found a passion for teaching students about music and moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico to pursue her dream of being a band director. Chelsea then transferred to University of New Mexico to finish her degree. With three years of instruction at New Mexico State University, she had the great pleasure of performing with the NMSU Wind Symphony, PRIDE of New Mexico Marching Band, Symphonic Band, and Flute Choir. She also studied abroad in the Fall of 2025 at Ewha Women's University in Seoul, South Korea. Chelsea's repertoire record at the university level consists of composers such as Valerie Coleman, Saverio Mercadante, and Fredrich Kuhlau. Chelsea has also taken woodwind method classes at NMSU and can teach a beginner. In her free time, she loves colorguard, dancing, playing video games, and spending time with her family.
