Hello! My name is Tess, can't remember when I started playing it's been that long. My piano teacher asked me if I was interested in teaching a little over three years ago now, and though I was hesitant at first, I grew to love. I taught many different students, bust mostly worked in the elementary school aged range. I did not work for a company, so I organized recitals on my own, organized the lessons, lesson plans, I learned to communicate effectively, and took on all the responsibility. I taught specific to the person I was teaching and adapted to what they were interested in and how they learned. I worked mostly out of the Alfred books and Piano Adventure, but some students were advanced enough to freestyle and go off to learn whatever they would like. I really tried to emphasize sight reading and prioritize what the students wanted to do and learn while still being firm to create a structured learning environment. The kids liked my laid-back way of teaching that did not intimidate them from practice or performing but helped them view piano in a more positive and fun light and not just an extracurricular their mothers were making them do. I love my students and was sad to leave them when I moved but am super excited at the prospect of teaching again with new students. Thank you for your time and consideration.
