Hi guys! I’m Eric-I’ve been a drummer and percussionist for over 25 years. Starting from one on one lessons at 6 years old, I continued my education and experience and still do! feverishly. This allowed me amazing opportunities: I got to tour the country performing and competing in Drum Corps International, as well as compete in Canada, where I was and still am the only percussion recipient of The Maestro Award, awarded for demonstrating multifaceted skills in various genres, in a competition/festival being held annually for over 100 years! After serving honorably in the US Navy as a Military Working Dog Handler I came home and began teaching all ages about the beauty of drumming and percussion. From the very basics I.e, how to hold the sticks all the way to advanced topics i.e, you’re a college student prepping to audition for a top 3 Drum Corps I focus fully on making sure students are met exactly at their level and have the best opportunity to excel. For parents with young children interested in percussion-you are very brave! But also, I do fortunately have lots of experience teaching toddlers and young kids, and alongside you we can work together to let your child fall in love with the craft of percussion. To older students and parents of students Middle school age and up-we will work together to establish goals and work towards them. I am a seasoned kit drummer, classical ensemble player, and marching percussionist, so your or your child’s goals can be multidisciplinary and you won’t have to look for another instructor. I cater every lesson to the student specifically-I will never throw a rudiment book at you or your child and give you/them five lines to learn. I personally write all of my warm ups, and all students are provided their own music to practice based on deficiencies and goals obviously I also teach music comprehension and reading rhythms. This has been a long write up-but as a TLDR; I love drumming, it’s been a pillar my entire life, and I want to share that love, knowledge, and experience with everyone I can.
