About Me

Hello, My name is Chris and I am a music teacher. I can teach you anything you want to learn about music. I play guitar as well as write songs. Every one wants to play guitar. I never talk to anyone who doesn't play guitar but wants to learn. They should. Guitar is the easiest instrument to play. Before long you can learn to play for others who like to sing. Now a rare few can play like Clapton right out of the gate. And then they can teach me. Same with piano and piano is a little more of a challenge so like me most students learn guitar first. It's not necessary to be a genius to be good at music. Or heaps of talent. It takes an interest and a willingness to apply oneself by working at it.

The Block Church in Miamisburg Ohio is my favorite. Lots of great memories. I love to busck and set out my hat in a park full of people. I buscked in Telluride Colorado one night where there was a stage just for busckers. I made over a hundred in tips. I love singing in church many great legends started like that. I really like late night campfire singouts. And Saturday afternoon song writing and passing round the guitar.

Experience Teaching:

I started teaching in 1974 I taught Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. Everyone wanted to learn it. I can still teach it to you or anything you want to learn. I taught at Sinclair Community College as a Tutor and performed in the auditorium weekly for open mic. I coached young musicians on performance skills. Critical role in learning how to use a microphone and guitar amps. I currently teach here in Berea Kentucky I perform occasionally if it pays. The most valuable experience I have had was how to my talent pay. I was taught by some real pros to swallow my pride and play the music I was getting paid to play. Bluegrass is very strictly controlled by potentates who demanded absolute perfect timing. Pay is very good and a lifelong career can easily be had. I learned to play blues by listening to John Lee Hooker records. I teach blues by jamming with my students you don't need to know a note of music. For performance I send my students to an Open Mic. I coach them on how they can improve their next gig. Rehearsal is absolutely necessary. I like to recommend videos for my students like one that is a recording of a rehearsal session with the Rolling Stones. That is why the Stones can perform the way their fans expect
