My name is Ryan and I have been playing music since I was 7 years old! I began learning the trumpet in school and before I went to high school for instrumental performance, I had the opportunity to play alongside the New York Pops twice at Carnegie Hall for its annual Gala! I later moved from trumpet to trombone and began writing progressive guitar music. Once I graduated high school, I was getting into music production. I had played so many orchestral, wind ensemble, jazz gigs, and rock band shows. I was getting deeper into songwriting. By the time I was 25 I had my own band and released an EP. This is when I began teaching anyone who was seeking to get their start in playing the guitar and bass. I started by teaching some locals at this cafe I was working at and later for a community center that put on a community theater play. The play consisted of children and adults ranging from 6 to 15 years old. I wrote the music and conducted the group to provide accompaniment for the actors to bring awareness to the community about their rights and why it is important to come together as one. Now, I am a father and new citizen of Tucson. I have so much experience in music and I want to share what I know lies in all of us because music is physical, emotional, and spiritual. I am here to help anyone that wants to begin or continue their journey expressing themselves musically. I believe in warmup, music theory, and flow. There are some foundational principles that one should know but, I am also open to teaching at the best to the student’s needs. Sometimes, that looks like playing along in a jam fashion or just building strength through simple repetitive exercises. I have worked with students that could only speak Spanish and also some with diagnosed ADHD. I am very open to listening to the students needs rather than telling them what they need to be doing. I will always begin with goals and work towards them through learning songs appropriate to the level accompanied with the theory to supplement.
