Darrel began playing the Saxophone at the age of 11. Over the years, he developed his skills further by playing music in professional settings, pursuing higher education, & continuing to learn and practice over the years. He gained performance experience in the Bay Area, Houston, LA, Vegas, New York City, & Minneapolis areas by playing at such venues as House of Blues, Cezzane’s, Yoshi’s Oakland, Small’s, Mezzrow, Cafe 4212, Ornithology, The Cosmopolitan, Maxan’s, Dakota, Berlin & countless other venues. Though Darrel can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are Jazz, R&B, funk, hip hop, Latin, & contemporary styles which had great influence on his style of playing.
