Ophelia B.

Ophelia is a double bass performance major at the University of Texas at El Paso, studying under Dr. Jesús Apodaca. She has participated in the Kansas City Bass Workshop and performed in master classes with François Rabbath, Andrés Martín, Lynn Seaton, and Hans Sturm. Ophelia has served as Assistant Principal for the El Paso Ballet Orchestra and Principal Bassist of the Lux Solaris Philharmonia. She works with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra’s Tocando Music Project as a Strings Teaching Artist and interns at the El Paso Pro Musica Center of Entrepreneurship under Zuill Bailey. She is also a member of the Artemis Bass Initiative, which focuses on mentorship, education, and professional development for bassists. In addition to her classical work, Ophelia explores jazz and other genres, performs on electric bass, and has appeared in UTEP Dinner Theater productions of Queen: The Musical and Grease.
