Yaya began playing drums at the age of 6. Over the years, he developed his skills further by playing in multiple bands and ensembles, as well as private lessons and development. He gained performance experience in the Los Angeles area by playing at such venues as Colburn School of music. Though Yaya can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are Rock and Alternative, which had great influence on his style of playing. Yaya loves music because he is an artist and natural born creative. He has a bachelors of studio art from Reed College and a masters in fine art from SVA but has pursued music outside of school alongside his degrees.
