Hi, I’m Katie. I believe that singing is an act of discovery, and my goal as a teacher is to help you find your authentic voice through a curiosity-based approach that prioritizes listening, exploration, and creative play. My own musical path has been anything but linear. I hold a B.A. in Music Composition and Performance from Bennington College, where I developed a deep fascination with the question: "what is music?" That curiosity has led me to perform in a range of vocal ensembles, ranging from Jazz choirs to Madrigal choirs to Sacred Harp and even a Meredith Monk ensemble. For 8 years, I was also half of an indie duo, Heddwen, based in Seattle. In our lessons, we won’t just work on hitting the right notes; we will explore different genres, study various musicians, and figure out what your own unique voice can do!
