Alejo has always loved music from an early age. They began like the lyric from an ABBA song “She says I began to sing long before I could talk” and continued their education by studying Voice and Music Composition at the Florida State University College of Music. Their musical influences range from Jazmine Sullivan and Kehlani in R&B, to Lady Gaga and Beyoncé in Pop, to Stephen Sondheim and Lin Manuel Miranda in Musical Theatre. Alejo's favorite thing about music is how personal it can be to someone as a form of expression and vulnerability. Their favorite thing about teaching music is interacting with their students so they feel comfortable and confident as well as seeing them overcome any obstacle they face in their singing. One of their favorite teaching experiences was their masterclass at the SoJam A Cappella Festival in Durham. The look of excitement and confidence on the singing groups faces when applying every constructive critique in concert was beyond words.
