Hi there! I am a lifelong pianist and vocalist who is passionate about helping introduce people to music! Whether you have a child dipping their toes into music for the first time, or are an adult looking to embark on a new adventure, I would love to help orient you with the fundamental skills and knowledge you need to build on in a judgement-free environment tailored to your personal goals.

What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Beginner -
Learn how to warm up and access greater vocal range. Work on improving vocal tone. Develop breathing techniques and achieve greater volume. Improve diction and vowel shape. Learn to read sheet music and employ solfege for sight reading. Interval training. Develop musical pieces of student's choice for performance.
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner -
Gain a grounding in basic music theory. Learn how to read sheet music. Strengthen and gain mobility in fingers and learn proper fingering techniques for the piano. Learn to play a mix of instructional and student's choice songs. Learn scales and chording techniques and build the basis to improvise music by ear.
Formal Education:
BA in English / Asian Studies from Rice University
Private Education:
20+ years of piano lessons from a private instructor.
Performing Experience:
Formally, I played and sang at two masses a week for ten years. I was also the go-to for dozens of weddings, funerals, and christmas parties over the years. I sang in excellent school choirs from elementary through high school, and participated in recitals for my formal voice lessons in junior and senior year. I also participated in dozens of theater performances, many of which were musicals.
Experience Teaching:
10 years as a church choir director, working with singers and instrumentalists that had little to no background. My favorite was an eight-year old girl with a lot of energy but no experience. Over the course of two years, she blossomed into a confident, powerful singer that regularly sang solo in front of crowds. I grew up in a large family and babysat often from the age of eight. I am excellent with children, particularly shy ones.
