About Me

Hi, my name is Matthew and I am a 22 year old drummer from Nashville. I have been a student of music for 17 years. My musical influences include Twenty One Pilots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aerosmith and I also enjoy Avenged Sevenfold. My teaching style can best be described as Goal-Oriented & Motivational. Lessons are built around clear, achievable goals. I help students stay motivated by tracking progress, celebrating milestones, and connecting practice to real-world playing situations like bands, gigs, or recording. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe that drumming should be both musical and enjoyable. I focus on building strong fundamentals—time, technique, coordination, and sound—while encouraging students to develop their own musical voice. In my lessons, you can expect to learn fundamentals, application, expression, and concepts that you can take to any level of drumming. I like to tell my students that improving your skills is easier than you might think. My favorite thing about teaching is watching students achieve things they thought were once out of reach. My favorite performance was the San Diego House of Blues opening for Sleep Theory! My students love that I think practicing should be fun! I primarily teach how to improve all around, but I also teach Double Bass Drumming if that's your thing. My approach as a teacher is to improve all around while having fun in the process.
