Austin M.

As a lifelong educator and musician, Austin believes that music education is for anyone who is willing to learn. He will work with anyone, of any ability, from age 5-105 (and he loves to work with K-12 students, as he is an elementary and high school educator). His specialty is in Marching Snare Drum, but he also has expertise in Drum Set, (twelve different Musical Theatre productions, UW Husky Basketball Band, and other jazz/rock/brass ensembles) and Symphonic Snare Drum, among other orchestral percussion. He is currently contracted to play drums for Bellevue College Musical Theatre this spring! His performing and teaching experience covers numerous genres, groups, and settings. Since 2015, he has taught private percussion lessons as well as multiple High School Drumline programs, including Seattle All-City Band, Thomas Jefferson High School, Eastlake High School, Lake Washington High School, and more. He has experience in College Marching Band, professional Musical Theatre, professional orchestral percussion, professional street entertainment, etc. As a music educator for 11 years and an elementary paraeducator for 4 years, Austin has worked with an incredibly diverse array of students with all different behaviors, personalities, and social-emotional/cognitive abilities. Growing up and working in the 5th most diverse district in the country, Austin is confident he can tailor his teaching to meet the needs of any student. He prioritizes making students feel challenged and supported on the way to a fun, productive music education.
