About Me

Hi, my name is Samuel, and I am a drummer from Kentucky with over 25 years of experience as a student of music. I started playing in church, learning multiple instruments before focusing primarily on drums. Over the years, I’ve performed in a variety of settings across the country and currently tour with the band Joslyn and the Sweet Compression. My musical influences include jazz, funk, gospel, and hip hop. My teaching style is simple, practical, and feel-based. I believe anyone can learn to play an instrument—it’s just a matter of learning how to make it musical. In my lessons, students can expect to learn foundational music principles that support long-term growth and confidence. I enjoy sharing stories from tours and performances to give real-world context to what we’re learning. My favorite part of teaching is seeing the moment when the instrument begins to make sense and feels natural. I take a patient, foundational approach to help students build skills that last.
