About Me

Hi, my name is John and I am a well-rounded musician from St Paul, MN. I have been a student of music for over 20 years. My musical influences are numerous from oldies and Frank Sinatra to 90s / early 2000s rock and I also enjoy folk, pop, electronic, and anything that sounds good. My teaching style can best be described as focused and flexible. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I bring out the virtuosic artist from within. In my lessons, you can expect to learn excellence, confidence, and have fun along the way. I like to tell my students not to worry about mistakes and focus on the music. My favorite thing about teaching is sharing my love of music with people. My favorite performance was playing for a national conference when I was 12 years old. My students love that I challenge them to improve and patient to help them along the way. I primarily teach drums, guitar, and keys, but I can also teach bass, ukulele, mandolin, vocals, songwriting, improv and production.
