About Me
Composer, songwriter, arranger, bassist producer, and audio engineer Mark aka Abishai has earned his reputation as a talented musician and skillful performer. Mark has been in the music industry for over 40 years now and he has educated, performed, recorded, composed and arranged for numerous artists. Mark is also the CEO of Buss Recording Studio in New Haven. Mark is a composer/songwriter, arranger, bassist, producer, and audio engineer. Mark has studied Jazz Performance at Long Island University (Brooklyn Campus) but has also studied bass with Calvin Hill, Percy Jones (Band-X), Jerry Jermott, Greg Maker, and Angus Thomas. He has studied performance with Benny Powell, Bob Mintzer and Eddie Henderson. At the Brooklyn College Music Conservatory, Abishai studied composition with Tania Leon, Jason Eckardt and Ben Bierman and audio engineering with George Brunner. Member of ASCAP – American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers AES – Audio Engineering Society

Performing Experience:

Mark aka Abishai has been in the music industry for over 40 years now and has performed and recorded with numerous artists. Some of these include singer songwriter ROB, Alan "Juice" Glover, Fred "wuj" Kimmel, Cedric "Im"(Skatalities), Rex Anthony, Kay Boyd, and Ernest "Super" Cooper among many others. Mark is/has been the musical director and bassist for the past 20 years for the artist ROB – Rise On Belief, as well as King of Glory Tabernacle, Bronx NY-Worship Ministry Band.

Experience Teaching:

Mark has written Recording Technology curriculum, for the City Universities of New York, as well as presently taught in higher education for over 20 years. Mark has also taught music on the pre-school, elementary, middle-School, high school and senior’s level at the following institutions; CUNY LaGuardia CC LIC NY 2003 – Present, Director of Music Recording Technology, Rhodes Music Corp.-Los Angeles CA 1999 – 2000, Piano Teacher/site supervisor, Young Audience NY • New YORK NY 1998 – 2006, Artist in Residence, Palomba Music Academy • Bronx NY 1996 – 2004, Music Teacher, NYC Board of Edu.
