Douglas is a University of Texas Jazz Performance Drum Set student with extensive live, studio, and touring experience. He has performed at major festivals including Austin City Limits 2024 Tito’s Stage and SXSW 2023, 2024, 2026, toured nationally across multiple states, and recorded music that has been streamed over 10 million times worldwide. In addition to his professional performance experience, Douglas has earned recognition in international music competitions and has spent years developing strong technical foundations through formal jazz training. With a background rooted in disciplined study and high-level performance, Douglas is excited to bring that same structure and musical understanding into private instruction. His approach emphasizes strong fundamentals, proper stick technique, timing, coordination, independence, and musical awareness, while keeping lessons engaging and aligned with each student’s interests. Whether a student wants to learn their favorite songs, build a solid rhythmic foundation, improve groove and control, or prepare for more advanced musical goals, Douglas focuses on creating clear, step-by-step progressions that make improvement measurable and motivating. His goal is to provide a supportive learning environment where students not only learn to play the drums, but also build confidence, discipline, and creativity that extends beyond the instrument.
Douglas B. has over 13 years of music experience in the Austin area.

What to expect in my Drum Lessons
In our first lesson, we’ll keep things relaxed and focused on getting to know you and your musical interests. We’ll talk about your goals, favorite music, and any experience you may already have on the drums. From there, we’ll explore some basic grooves or exercises that match your level. For beginners, that might mean learning how to sit at the kit comfortably, hold the sticks properly, and play your first beat. For more experienced students, we may jam a little, try a song, or work through something you’d like to improve. By the end of the lesson, you’ll have a better understanding of where you’re at and a simple, clear idea of what to practice next. My goal is to create a supportive, encouraging space where you can grow at your own pace while still making steady progress.
