Selena has been writing her own original songs since 3 years old, and performing since 5 years old, when she also began taking guitar lessons at Germantown Music School. Through her early childhood she participated in multiple performing arts programs, musical theatre plays, summer camps, etc. For high school, she attended Dekalb School of the Arts and majored in Vocal Arts, and minored in Drama. While she was there she participated in all three choirs she was eligible for: Concert Choir for all students : Proarté, a women’s show choir, and Highleit, a mixed gender show choir. Both show choirs required extremely competitive rounds of auditions annually. She studied multiple genres of music in multiple languages including French, Swahili, Hindi, Spanish, Latin, and more. She also won the award for French 3 Student of The Year in 2018, and graduated at age 16 with a 3.1 GPA. Since then, she has attended Howard University to study Film and Tv, and participated in a singing group on campus. After returning to Atlanta, she has been relentlessly writing and performing original music, with some music released on all platforms, and more coming. You can hear the clear influence from her time in her birthplace of Philadelphia and her heritage two Jamaican parents.

What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
I will be teaching a mixture of improving vocal technique and honing in on creative writing abilities. I am so passionate about music and I breathe music. I’ve been writing songs and singing since I learned to speak and write. My students can expect to be pushed, never past what they can manage, but always feel like they’re coming out having learned something new. Fun vocal warmups, quick vocal anatomy lessons, music theory, building the structure of a song, and creating interesting lyrics, melodies, and harmonies, are all topics we will explore.
