About Me

Hi, my name is Martha and I am a vocalist and musician from Garland, TX. I have been a student of music through my high school days up until I graduated from Texas Woman's University with my Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy. My musical influences include Whitney Houston, Sara Bareilles, ABBA, and Baroque music and I especially enjoy a wide range of live music from intimate coffee shops to musical theater productions! My teaching style can best be described as tailored to meet the goals of my students. My teaching philosophy can best be described by at any moment, inspiration can spark, so have your pen/paper/recording device ready! In my lessons, you can expect to learn sight reading, aural skills, harmonization, song writing, and basic music theory. I like to tell my students to never give up and to keep on trying new things especially if they are challenging. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the spark of joy from my students. My favorite performance was when I performed a set of original music in front of my friends, family, and peers in Denton, TX. My students love that I am patient and have a gentle approach to teaching. I primarily teach voice, but I can also teach guitar. My approach as a teacher is to always celebrate the wins, no matter how small!
