About Raf I'm a drummer and composer from Belgium, based in Brooklyn. I've been playing since I was a kid and never really stopped which is probably the most honest thing I can say about why I do this. Over the years I've built a double life in music: one foot in jazz and improvisation, the other in metal. Those worlds don't always talk to each other, but that's exactly what makes me an interesting teacher. I've had to figure out how groove, dynamics, and composition work across very different contexts and that gives me a lot of tools to share. When it comes to teaching, I try to meet you where you are, not where I think you should be. Technique matters, but so does feel and so does knowing why you're sitting behind a kit in the first place. I'm not here to clone my own playing. I'm here to help you find yours. Let's get to work.
