About Me

Hi, my name is Skyla and I am a vocalist from Boston, MA. I have been a student of music for 15 years. My main musical influences for my own vocal style include Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, and Kate Bush. However, I also enjoy and have studied and practiced many genres including rock, jazz, classical and musical theater-all of which have impacted my vocal and teaching style greatly. My teaching style can best be described as fun, intuitive, and anatomy-based. I believe first and foremost that every singer should find their own voice, and work with students to sing the songs they want in a way that feels natural to them and emotionally grounded. The most beautiful part of the voice is that no two instruments are the same. In my lessons, you can expect to learn exercises and techniques specifically tailored for your voice and your goals. I like to tell my students to be themselves, to have fun, and to be comfortable with their own voice. My students love that I keep things light and incorporate humor into my lessons. Music is a method of art and communication, so I also like to incorporate acting techniques and explore the “why” of the song selections to help performance feel emotionally resonant and relevant to the student.
