Matthew began playing guitar at the age of 9. Over the years, he developed his skills further by performing live and learning from touring musicians. He gained performance experience in the Texas and Oklahoma area by playing at such venues as Reed Arena, Gruene Hall, and Tannahill's Tavern with acts such as Henry Merchant. Though Matthew can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are country and southern rock, which have had a great influence on his style of playing. Matthew loves music because he believes it brings out the best in people and he loves teaching music because he loves seeing people fall in love with music and connect with it on a deeper level.
