Christopher has always loved music from an early age. He began playing cello at the age of 11 and continued his education by going to Baylor University to get his bachelor’s degree in Music Performance. His musical influences include his private lessons teacher Brandon Cornett who went to Sam Houston State University for both his Bachelor’s and Masters degrees. He is also influenced by his Cello Professor at Baylor University, Phillip Borter who got his Bachelor’s degree from Cleveland Institute of Music and Eastman School of Music for his Masters and Doctoral degrees. Christopher 's favorite thing about music is making others feel well and spreading love through music making and his favorite thing about teaching music is making his students feel welcome and encouraging them to not only be better musicians but also be kind and caring people. One of his favorite teaching experiences was when we taught middle schoolers in Michigan at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Seeing the smiles on the kids faces when they felt accomplished and working with them to not just playing notes on a page, but rather making the music come to life. When taking lessons with Christopher you can expect someone who will push you to be the best musician you can be as well as someone who can be a person to encourage you. He looks forward to getting to know you as a student and learning about your specific goals, interests, and learning style. Book a lesson now and get connected right away!
