Professional Introduction: Private Music Instructor With over 30 years of musical experience and a deep-rooted passion for education, I offer a versatile and student-centered approach to music instruction. My background blends high-level technical training with decades of real-world performance, allowing me to guide students through both the theory and the "soul" of their instrument. Core Qualifications & Experience • Advanced Musical Education: I am a graduate of the Los Angeles College of Music, where I completed the Electric Bass program. This formal training provides the foundation for my instruction in technique, theory, and performance. • Multilingual Instruction: I am fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, and I have experience with American Sign Language. This allows me to connect with a diverse range of students and families, ensuring clear communication and inclusive learning environments. • Multi-Instrumental Proficiency: While electric bass is my primary expertise performing professionally since 2002, I am also a vocalist, rapper, rhythm guitarist, and drummer. This multi-instrumental perspective helps me teach students how to lock in with a rhythm section and understand the "big picture" of an ensemble. • 20 Years in Education: My professional career includes two decades as a special education paraprofessional. This experience is invaluable for private instruction; I excel at adapting my teaching style to meet the unique learning needs, pacing, and personalities of every student—from high schoolers to adults. • Active Performer: I remain active in the music scene as a solo artist under the name Steve Roomba and as the bassist for the band Simply Rumba.
