About Me

Hello! I am Emm (aka Emmsy they/she), a queer Mexican musician and stage creative with 10 years of teaching experience based in Durham, NC. I offer piano and voice lessons tailored to your level, interests, and goals-all in a supportive, safe space that honors your pace and how you learn best. Instead of focusing on traditional classical music, you’ll learn through modern, multicultural songs you actually enjoy, with lessons available in English or Spanish.

Formal Education:

Bachelors Degree in Audiovisual Production from Universidad de Artes Digitales, Guadalajara, Mexico.

Performing Experience:

From 2019 to 2025, I´ve released four original albums with 2 different projects: Emm(instrumental) and Emmsy (Singer-songwriter). Both projects have been shared across 20+ live shows and are available on streaming music platforms.

Experience Teaching:

One of my greatest passions is teaching music. Since 2010 I’ve had the privilege of coaching more than 150 vocalists and pianists, including the voice of Ariel in the Latin Dubbing of Disney's The Little Mermaid in 2023. I offer piano and voice lessons tailored to your level, interests, and goals-all in a supportive, safe space that honors your pace and how you learn best. Instead of focusing on traditional classical music, you’ll learn through modern, multicultural songs you actually enjoy, with lessons available in English or Spanish. You’ll dive into hands-on learning by playing your favorite songs, pick up practical music theory to help you learn tons of popular tunes more easily, build skills to accompany your own singing or other instruments/voices, and even try your hand at writing your own original pieces.
