Mackenzie began playing the oboe at the age of ten. Over the years, she developed her skills further through her teachers, ensembles, and personal study. She gained performance experience by playing at such venues as Symphony Center and with wind ensembles and orchestras. Though Mackenzie can teach many different genres of music, her musical personal favorites are the Barret oboe method and baroque music, which had great influence on her style of playing. Mackenzie loves music because of the people it surrounds her with and loves teaching music because everyone should be able to feel its importance.
