About Me

I’m a passionate musician, worship leader, and instructor with years of experience playing, leading, and teaching music in both live and church settings. I have experience leading worship teams, performing with full bands, and helping musicians grow in skill and confidence. I believe great music lessons should be encouraging, practical, and fun. Whether you are a complete beginner or have been playing for years, I meet students where they are and help them improve at a pace that works for them. I focus on building a strong foundation in technique, rhythm, timing, ear training, and musical confidence while also teaching songs students actually enjoy. My background includes leading worship, performing live, working with sound systems and recording equipment, and helping singers and musicians develop their gifts. I have a real passion for helping students not only learn music, but understand how to express themselves through it. Students and parents often appreciate that I’m patient, easy to work with, and genuinely invested in helping each student succeed. I want every lesson to leave students feeling more confident, more excited, and more capable than when they started.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

Students in my lessons can expect a friendly, encouraging, and hands-on learning environment. I teach beginners and intermediate players, tailoring each lesson to their skill level and goals to make learning practical, fun, and rewarding. Students will learn essential techniques such as proper hand positioning, chords, rhythms, scales, and playing along with songs. For intermediate students, lessons include refining technique, learning more complex chord progressions, improving timing, and playing confidently with other musicians. My goal is for every student to leave lessons feeling confident, motivated, and excited to practice, knowing they’re making steady progress while building a strong foundation for their musical journey.

Formal Education:

I have extensive hands-on experience as a musician, worship leader, and instructor. While most of my musical training has come through years of practical experience, live performance, leading worship teams, and working directly with other musicians, I am also continuing my education and personal growth. I have spent years studying music through real-world application, private study, and teaching others. In addition to my music background, I will be attending The River University beginning in January 2026 to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry, where I will continue developing my leadership, communication, and teaching skills.

Private Education:

In addition to my hands-on experience and private instruction, I have invested in my musical growth through structured study, including purchasing access to the Guitar Institute teachings by Jeffrey Kunde of Jesus Culture and Bethel, which offers 10 years’ worth of comprehensive guitar lessons. This has allowed me to deepen my understanding of technique, theory, and practical playing, and I bring these lessons and insights directly into my teaching to help students learn effectively and confidently.

Performing Experience:

I bring over 30 years of performing experience as a guitarist, bassist, and worship leader. Throughout these decades, I’ve led worship for church services, special events, and live audiences, as well as performed in small and large ensembles across a variety of styles, including worship, contemporary, and classic rock. This extensive experience has given me a deep understanding of technique, stage presence, and musical communication. I use these skills in my teaching to help students build confidence, play with expression, and develop a strong foundation for their own musical journey.

Experience Teaching:

In teaching my own children, I’ve seen a range of outcomes—some of them excelled and developed a real passion for music, while others discovered that music wasn’t their calling. Both experiences have been valuable, teaching me how to encourage each student based on their strengths and interests, and to make lessons engaging, supportive, and tailored to individual goals. This perspective helps me create a positive learning environment where every beginner feels confident, supported, and inspired to explore their musical abilities, regardless of where their journey leads.
