About Me

Hi, my name is Ayan but most people call me Yaya! I am a Soprano from Washington, D.C. and I have been studying voice for 10 years and classical voice for 6 years! My musical influences include jazz and modern R&B, I also enjoy Musical theatre and Classical music. My teaching style can best be described as easy going and catered to the specific stage of developing your voice you're at. My teaching philosophy can best be described as creating a safe environment that balances technique with your artistic expression. In my lessons, you can expect to learn a good basis for technique, starting with breath control and learning how to maintain healthy singing habits. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing how my students voices improve and how that can boost their confidence. My favorite performance was when I performed on NPR TinyDesk in Washington,D.C. I primarily teach classical music and technique but I can also teach Musical Theatre, Jazz, Pop, R&B, and Rock.
