About Me

Hi, my name is Peter, and I am a pianist from the South Shore. I have been able to play piano for as long as I can remember and greatly enjoy the accessibility and versatility of the instrument. I am also a proficient guitarist at both the six-string and bass guitar and I can drum at a basic level on a standard kit as well. My musical influences include Mozart, Beethoven, the Beatles, AC/DC, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and I also enjoy Show Tunes. My teaching style can best be described as positive and laid back. I encourage students to explore music they are interested in at their own pace. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that the best way to learn is to find songs/pieces you enjoy playing, practice consistently, and don't get discouraged. In my lessons, you can expect to learn the fundamentals of piano finger technique, sight-reading, playing with the metronome, and simple ear training. I like to tell my students that playing music is hard and even attempting to learn indicates high levels of intelligence and self-esteem. I also feel it is important to reassure them that becoming a proficient musician can take years, and it is important to be patient with yourself and give yourself grace as you learn. My favorite thing about teaching is when students first unlock the ability to play at tempo and can enjoy the music they are making for the first time. My favorite performance was the Thanksgiving Show I do with my cousins. My students love that I am not harsh when they make mistakes and show them tricks/techniques to prevent that. I primarily teach beginner to advanced piano, but I can also teach beginner guitar/bass guitar. My approach as a teacher is to develop a student's fundamentals for both technique and theory while still allowing them to play music they enjoy. Thanks for taking a look at my profile.
