About Me

Hi, my name is Ethan and I am a Denton resident from Harlingen, TX. I have playing for 10 years starting from middle school, into high school, and currently a freelancer. My musical influences include classical, jazz, and improvisational techniques and I also enjoy watching performances. My teaching style can best be described as disciplined yet caring. My teaching philosophy can best be described as the golden circle. Practice ~> Improvement ~> Fun ~> Repeat. In my lessons, you can expect to view playing music through different lenses and to better understand how different techniques are applied to music comprehension. I like to tell my students about my own personal experiences with music and how they shape me as a musician and person. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the progress in their technique/playing as well as seeing their imaginary lightbulb turn on when they understand what they are being taught. My favorite performance was the 2018/2019 New Year’s Eve performance at the Spurs Basketball Game playing the Star Spangled Banner with the Harlingen Wind Symphony, directed by Ronnie Rios. My students love that I can teach applied concepts and can heavily relate on struggles or habits I still improve on. I primarily teach dance and color guard but I’m heavily versed with music and saxophone technique. My approach as a teacher is to give my students a plethora of ideas and view points, hopefully one of those ideas can spark their learning mindset and take that with them into their musical journey. What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

Student should expect a well rounded perspective on the music they are learning. They will come out of the lessons with knowing how to apply different techniques to execute what they are learning.
