About Me

Hi, my name is Kamaya and I am a music education and violin performance major from KSU. I have been a student of music for nearly 14 years! My musical influences include Suzuki, Hilary Hahn, Augustin, and I also enjoy many different composers. My teaching style can best be described as technical with a combination of expression. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I prioritize technique more than learning music. Foundational work is super important. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to bring the music to life with your own interpretations, as well as different techniques. I like to tell my students that music is in your heart; play like the instrument is keeping your heart pumping. My favorite thing about teaching is passing on knowledge that I’ve learned from my professors. My students love that I can be versatile with all string instruments. I primarily teach violin, but I can also teach beginner cello. My approach as a teacher is to better our young musicians and share the beauty of music. Thanks for taking a look at my profile.
