About Me

Ruben began playing guitar at the age of 12 through school music programs and developed his skills through years of live performance as a teenager. His passion for music led to his acceptance into the Berklee College of Music in Boston at age 18, where he was offered admission before ultimately choosing a different path due to family circumstances. He has continued playing and growing as a guitarist ever since, with over 15 years of hands-on experience. His musical influences span rock, metal, blues, and modern guitar-driven music and even Spanish style from Latin rock to bachata to modern day music. Ruben’s favorite thing about music is its ability to connect people and express emotion, and his favorite thing about teaching is helping students go from uncertainty to confidently playing songs they love. One of his favorite parts of teaching is seeing students play their first full song and realize they are truly “guitar players.” He tailors each lesson to the student’s goals and learning style, whether they want to learn songs, improve technique, or build a stronger understanding of music. When taking lessons with Ruben, you can expect a relaxed, encouraging, and structured approach focused on real progress from day one. He looks forward to helping you reach your goals and grow as a musician.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons

Students can expect a supportive, patient, and personalized learning experience centered around their musical interests and goals. Ruben believes that learning guitar should feel exciting and rewarding, whether a student is picking up the instrument for the first time or looking to improve technique and confidence. Lessons focus on building strong fundamentals while also learning real songs students enjoy, helping them stay motivated and see consistent progress each week. With experience playing multiple styles and performing live, Ruben creates a relaxed environment where students can grow at their own pace and develop both skill and creativity on the instrument.

Performing Experience:

Ruben began performing live between the ages of 13 and 19, developing strong stage experience through numerous performances at the Caruso School of Music. Throughout his musical journey, he has continued performing into adulthood while collaborating with a variety of musicians, including drummers, bassists, rhythm guitarists, and vocalists. These experiences helped shape his versatility, confidence, and ability to perform in both solo and group settings.

Experience Teaching:

Ruben began teaching guitar in his 20s after meeting many aspiring players who wanted to learn but didn’t know where to start. What began as informal instruction quickly grew into a rewarding teaching experience, helping students build confidence and improve week by week. Ruben focuses on making learning enjoyable and personalized by teaching favorite songs, introducing new chords and scales, and helping students strengthen their overall technique as they progress.
